Hello BAT,

It may be long winded here, but here it is.......

A little history. I was a Eudora user for a number of years, it
was almost the only game in town for quite a while. With the 4.2
update and up, they seem to be adding 2 bugs for every feature.
Pure "Bugs Life". Major things like crashes, hang ups and
intermittent stuff.

In looking around for a reliable replacement, I started using
Outlook 2000, it's already there, it is pretty but filters
just don't do the job and it's just too much of everything.

>From there I go to Pegasus, a real screamer of a program.
I had so many mailboxes in Eudora and Pegasus doesn't have
an import feature and even an external program that was
really an answer. I had to give up on that early.

I started using Calypso. I would call it a competent program
even though it's po-poed on the list group. To my amazement,
I find out it doesn't support MAPI and I have to use it for
some applications. Then I see that the filtering is weak and
I use filtering extensively. It does have a pretty clean interface.

Then The Bat! At a glance the interface looks like a simple
program. I install it and now I consider it home although for
the new user, it's really confusing on some points.

Now, I'm looking for some features and maybe they already in
the bat but can't seem to find them.

I used to be able to edit a message and save it where it sits,
doesn't look like a way to do that.

I'd like to be able to set up multiple accounts (I have 4), and
use 1 set of mailbox folders with the option of using specific
ones inside the other accounts.

I see there is HTML support but when an HTML page comes into email,
it doesn't look like what was sent, E-C-O (Eudora, Calypso, and Outlook)
display as a web page. I know I'll get flak here, but I would like
to see an HTML toolbar and the ability to display the page the way it
was sent. When you subscribe to things nowadays, sometimes you're
given a choice of HTML of plain text but most of the time not at all,
you get HTML. Email and HTML have to mix nowadays.

I'd like to select which account to send the email from (down arrow)
in the send mail when I'm about to send it, not have to send it from
the account I'm editing in.

I'd like to see a "preview" on the toolbar next to the print button.
And a "right click" on the toolbar to customize it.

Some small stuff like "change case", "wrap, unwrap", "remove quotes
in message" etc.

The ability to work with sentences or paragraphs or both. When
I'm composing a message, tell me which mailbox I'm in, in case
the gray cells get lost.

If some of the things are here, sorry for the babble. My own opinion
is that if you don't ask for it, it's doesn't get put in.

Now, if one of you rant and rave types wants to tear into me, just go
back to the list and consider me a newbie that hasn't got a grip. on it yet!

I love the power of TB! and I'm here to stay, just like a few more
amenities. This ain't army chow, it's gourmet stuff.

By the way, Capitol "C" gets the misspell line under it in Eudora too.

Thanks,

John
