The following people can open .eml file attachments with TB! 1.41's
internal viewer without any problems:

        (1) Justin D. Paine, [EMAIL PROTECTED], NT 5.0 Build 2195
        (2) Januk Aggarwal, [EMAIL PROTECTED], Win 98 4.10 Build 2222 A
        (3) Tony Boom, [EMAIL PROTECTED], Win 98 4.10 Build 1998

The following people cannot open .eml file attachments with TB! 1.41's
internal viewer:

        (1) Uwe Brockmann, [EMAIL PROTECTED], Win 98 4.10
        (2) Simon, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        (3) Roy Jackson, [EMAIL PROTECTED], Win 95
        (4) tracer, [EMAIL PROTECTED], Win 98
        (5) Allie Martin, [EMAIL PROTECTED], NT 5 Build 2195

So far nobody has solved the problem that people in the second group are
experiencing.

None of the following suggestions have allowed TB! users to solve the
problem themselves:

(1) source of suggestion:
        Januk Aggarwal, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
    suggestion (paraphrased):
"There may be different versions of TB! that are all numbered
1.41. Try downloading the latest version."
    result:
        No change.

(2) source of suggestion:
        Januk Aggarwal, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
    suggestion (paraphrased):
        "Delete Windows' .eml file association."
    result:
Windows asks for program to use when user attempts to open a
        .eml file.

(3) source of suggestion:
        Januk Aggarwal, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        tracer, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        Marek Mikus, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
    suggestion (paraphrased):
"Change Windows' .eml file association to The Bat!"
    result:
TB! opens an empty file in "Edit Mail Message" editor and shows
.eml file as attachment. Clicking on .eml attachment
recursively opens another empty file in another "Edit Mail
Message" editor window. However, the contents of the .eml file
        is never displayed.

(4) source of suggestion:
        Dieter Hummel, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
    suggestion (paraphrased):
"Wait for TB! version 2.0 which will provide for calling an
        external editor."
    result:
Calling an external editor would not solve the problem. Version
        2.0 is not out yet.

(5) source of suggestion:
        Oleg Zalyalov, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
    suggestion (paraphrased):
"The authors of TB! should modify the source code of TB! so that
TB! wil treat .eml files exactly like .msg files. This
modification should be incorporated into version 1.42 of TB!."
    result:
This should solve the problem. However, this solution can only
be applied by the authors of TB!

(6) source of suggestion:
        Simon, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
    suggestion (paraphrased):
"Run TB! on a system on which Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft
        Outlook Express have been installed."
    result:
This does not work for me.

(7) source of suggestion:
        Allie Martin
    suggestion (paraphrased):
"Run TB! on a system on which Microsoft Outlook Express has
        never been installed."
    result:
This was not necessary for Tony Boom ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and
Justin D. Paine ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) who both succeeded at
opening .eml attachments with TB!'s internal viewer.

(8) source of suggestion:
        Alexander V. Kiselev, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
    suggestion (paraphrased):
"The problem is caused by some versions of Microsoft Internet
Explorer or other installed software. Start search for the
cause of the problem by comparing installed versions of
        Internet Explorer."
    result:
Here is what I have according to "Help --> About Internet
        Explorer":

                Version 5.00.2014.0216
                Cipher Strength: 128-bit
                Update Versions:;3717;q231452;q231450;q240308;
q241362;q242542;q2 (the rest of the text is
cut off and I do not know how to make it
                        visible)

Here is what I have according to the Version tab of the
        properties of my IEexplore.exe file:

                File Version: 5.00.2014.200
                Created: Wednesday, February 24, 1999
                Modified: Wednesday, February 24, 1999

If you think that Alexander V. Kiselev ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) has the
right idea, please feel free to state your version of Internet Explorer.

If you know the solution to the problem, please tell us!

I enclose the two sample files sample.eml and sample.msg as
attachments again. If TB! displays them identically with its internal
viewer then you do not have a problem.

If TB! calls Outlook Express or Notepad or some other program to open
sample.eml then you have the problem. If TB! opens a blank mail message
in an "Edit Mail Message" editor window and shows sample.eml as an
attachment (which you cannot open) then you also have the problem.

Uwe Brockmann, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
