If you really see lots of bugs then I can see where you're coming
from, but TB! is stable for me.

However, to say that it's time to look for alternatives when new
versions don't come out as frequently as you'd like, well, I think
you'd be missing the point of *using* software.

I use TB! because it has features that I *require* at this point in
time. I browsed the pack, and this is the closest-to-ideal solution
for me at this time.

I use Agent for news reading. Used to use it for mail reading. I'd
still consider it the best package available for both, as long as you
don't need multi-server support. The browsing capabilities blow TB
out of the water, just to start...

Anyhow, I remember reading all of this stuff on the Agent newsgroups
about "oh, development has been abandoned, time to find a new mail
client," and I wonder "WTF? It's still the best package there is..."

In other words, if TB! fills the need, use it. If it doesn't, find a
piece of software that does. Coming out with new versions every other
week doesn't mean that a program is useful or not to you (unless the
feature sets change significantly). "When" 2.0 comes out, I'm sure
there will be people who like 1.x just fine and may have no need to
upgrade at that time or ever. RIT does seem to be shooting themselves
in the foot though by repeatedly however by announcing "sometime in
February (2000)," and then pushing it back a year. Best to say "we're
working on it, it'll be out when it's done, and we'll announce a date
when we have one."

So I'd use TB! even if development on it stopped today. I paid my $29
US and I'm going to use this software until something better comes
around.
