Hi Joe,

On 10 August 2000 at 17:17:47 GMT -0500 (which was 23:17 where I
live) [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote and made these points on the subject
of "">From" in a message":

JF> Then why doesn't my server put the same ">" in front of the word
JF> "From" when I send that same message to myself, using Eudora?

It doe, but Eudora understands that it has done so and removes it for
display purposes. As Steve suggest, why not try checking out the raw
message in Eudora. OTOH, Eudora may have stripped it altogether and it
won't even be visible in raw form.

FWIW Steve's other answers to you were spot on. I won't duplicate that
effort.

JF> Here's another related question:

JF> Why can't I sometimes type the symbol ">" in a sentence and the
JF> sentence doesn't immediately become highlighted (like quoted text does),
JF> and then other times I do it, it doesn't?

jgh >>

JF> Use the above as an example.

JF> Upon typing the ">," it became highlighted, just like this sentence's
JF> top line just became highlighted, too.

JF> But it didn't do it when I was writing the paragraph above starting
JF> with the word "Why."

This is about how TB decides whether the text preceding the '>' is a
valid quote prefix (initials, name, etc.) or not. Steve has pointed
you to the TB option which governs that decision.
