I really don't know that it would be that difficult, after all, DLLs
are a known format, and all one needs to do is figure out what the
functions are (which is easy if you've got the libs available, as in
the case that it's a downloadable library) and then write a
replacement with a similar number of functions.  Plug it in, let it
roll, and see what happens!
