Hello Abigail,

Is there a reason why you're keeping the old read mail for mailing
lists where you only want to see the unread mail? If there is, may I
suggest an alternate setup. I'm using TBUDL as an example, but you
should be able to do this for any mailing list.
1. Create your TBUDL folder
2. Create a sub-folder called TBUDL Archive
3. Edit the TBUDL folder properties
a) select "Keep Messages for nn days"
b) select "Remove old messages on Exit" and "Compress on Exit"
c) Note that your TBUDL Archive folder should keep it's messages
longer than your TBUDL folder
4. In your filters, copy your TBUDL filter to a read filter.
5. Change the read filter so,
a) The source folder should be your TBUDL folder
b) The target folder should be your TBUDL folder
c) From the Actions tab, select the Copy option and specify
your TBUDL Archive folder as the destination. (Mark the
messages as read at the same time.)
6. Refilter your TBUDL message base, then run a Purge command. From
now on both of these tasks should be automated.
You can do this for other folders as well. The read message filters
can be made non specific if that's appropriate.
