In a post time stamped re: "the sent folder" you wrote:

Don't know the answer to the first question but, in regards to
Q2, right click on the Sent folder & under properties, un-check
the option for keeping msgs for "xx" days & select remove old
msgs. This way I believe your Sent folder will be emptied each
time you exit TB!
