Why not make the Filtering Strings | Strings settings in a filter Filtering Strings | String or Filename?
The rationale for this is producing an easily updated "anti-spam filter"; I'm getting a lot of spam from Taiwan for some reason so the filter would have, among others: Rule.Move messages to folder = Trash Rule.Strings = .tw (Location = Anywhere, Presence = Yes) Actions.Mark the message as read = <ticked> Now if, say, spam started turning up from China I would add another entry: Rule.Strings = .cn (Location = Anywhere, Presence = Yes) and if people started to sell me Viagra another entry would be: Rule.Strings = Viagra (Location = Anywhere, Presence = Yes) These multiple entries get unwieldy, especially with the cluttered screen area in which they are held, and it would be much easier to handle this situation if I could specify: Rule.Filename = <whatever> (Location = Anywhere, Presence = Yes) and then have <whatever> as a plain text file containing the lines: .tw .cn Viagra ... and so on. Thus another "junk string" would merely require altering a text file _outside_ TB! (and could probably be automated in some way), rather than adding rule after rule after rule _within_ TB! (Regular expressions are not enough - the possible "junk strings" are too disparate). Thoughts? Alastair
