No, it's just a side effect of a normal behaviour.

Some things you should note:

a) TB! can place the senders first name, last name, full-name,
initials etc. as part of the quote prefix.

b) For incoming messages using these fancy quote prefixes, TB! will
sense and show them as quotes. This is done by assuming (as the
default) that if a '>' character appears within 20 characters of the
line of text, then it should be treated as a quote prefix. We all
thought this setting was unreasonably large and asked for it to be
configurable. Our wish was granted and the setting for this is in the
Editor preferences/Quote Name Limit. I have mine set to 4 characters
since most will quote using initials and not names.

c) Finally, TB!'s editor has the wonderful ability of being able to
reflow quoted material, even quoted material with the special
prefixing with initials etc.

When you see your text change, it's because you have put a '>'
character in the line of text that's within the quote name limit
defined in your editor preferences. As a result of this TB! assumes
the '>' character is a quote prefix and treats the line of text as
such. As you type and a new line is created, TB! automatically
inserts the quote prefix in the new line.

You can indent initially indent the line containing the '>' character

quote name limit to 2 or so will also help a lot.
