Hallo Ben, > But TB still prompts me to set it up as the default mail client > everytime I load it up, even if I load it up, click 'Yes', shut down > and then load up again!
are you running WinNT, Win2K or WinXP as a limited user, i.e. without admin privileges? In these cases The Bat has not enough privileges to change the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Even if you try to change these settings by the IE it won't be saved. The easiest way is to start IE as an admin and set The Bat as the default mail client (at least this works over here on WinXP). Another way: In addition to my previously posted registry keys you should also import (don't forget to insert your local path ;-) <start> Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\mailto] @="URL:MailTo-Protokoll" "EditFlags"=hex:02,00,00,00 "URL Protocol"="" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\mailto\DefaultIcon] @="E:\\PROGRAMME\\THE BAT!\\THEBAT.EXE,0" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\mailto\shell] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\mailto\shell\open] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\mailto\shell\open\command] @="\"E:\\PROGRAMME\\THE BAT!\\THEBAT.EXE\" %1" <end> Maybe some professionals will be reading this mail so I've a question, too: I've replaced HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE by HKEY_CURRENT_USER in this case and in my previously posted mail, so even as a non admin user I've the possibility to add these keys to the registry. It worked fine: The Bat was listed as the standard E-Mail client in the start menu (WinXP feature) and it was used everytime I clicked a mailto link in IE. Unfortunately, The Bat still asked to be registered as the standard client. Maybe because it looks explicitly under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE? So every user on the same machine would be using the same standard mail client. Wouldn't it be better if The Bat used HKEY_CURRENT_USER instead of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE? -- Regards, Patrick ________________________________________________________ Current Ver: 1.60q FAQ : http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/
