It isn't a full-blown dedicated mailserver since it will not provide
features that a typical mailserver will. It however, can be made to
take on the role of a mail server in the setting where you have
machines on an LAN with no access to the internet and you wish to get
mail to the TB! clients on them. You could run a mailserver on the
server connected to the internet, or you could run a copy of TB! in
dial-out server mode. In this state, you can download mail to accounts
on the server installation and then the clients can fetch mail from
the server installation accounts. TB! on the server will also act as
an SMTP relay server (it's not an SMTP server that will do direct mail
deliveries). It's fairly limited in scope but may very well serve the
needs of many on a network.

The help files contain documentation on this. In the TB! menus, go to
Options/Network and Administration, then hit the help button on the
configuration panel.
