Well, it is the *minority* of users that involve themselves in
discussion lists with on-line archives or whose emails end up posted
somewhere on the web. In that context, signatures containing email
addresses are safe and sound. I was addressing my remarks to a closed
audience who *are* in that minority.

Should they be in the default templates? Probably not. The problem
with changing defaults mid-stream is that there are behavioural
expectations - existing users expect their new account templates to
have a certain format and content and may not be pleased by so
fundamental a change.

Version 2 is another story though and I intend to campaign for a
change there.
