For reasons I won't go into, the 'Inbox' folder on one of my accounts
currently has about 300,000 unread messages in it. Most of these
messages I would like to get rid of, but there are some in there I
would like to keep.

The Bat seems to be having a lot of trouble doing anything with this
folder - even just viewing it doesn't seem to work (the hard disc
activity goes a bit crazy but nothing ever displays, even after I
left it overnight).

All of the messages I want to get rid of have the same subject, so it
should be pretty simple, but nothing I try works. I managed to delete
a few of them at the start by searching that folder for the specific
subject, aborting the search after a few seconds, and then doing
'delete from base' on the results that were returned. But now the
search feature just never returns any results and never stops, I just
have to kill the program.

Can anyone suggest a good course of action?
