Choosing this opens a TB message window with the document attached and the subject set to the document title or filename. FWIW, I just chose the standard install for MS Office and then set TB as the default simple MAPI and default email client. You don't say which version of MS Office you're using, but IIRC, Word 97 behaved as your installation.
