Someone (I don't remember who) misunderstood the "we're considering"
state of the gmane discussions and went ahead and subscribed the
lists anyway. The result was complete fury from members of the list
who contribute regularly but vehemently disapprove of their words
being available on any kind of news feed.

Speaking personally, they have my complete sympathy ;-).

I'm softening on the idea now but it looks, from Johannes post, that
the mail-archive will be back and that the glitch is temporary. So
this discussion is moot.
