D> Monday, October 20, 2003 D> 5:03:54 PM D> Hi, D> I missed most of this thread. What exactly is X-Mailer and why should D> one be concerned with whether its on or off? D> Thanks for explaining X-Mailer is a field in your e-mail message header { you can view this by pressing F9 } that states what e-mail client you are using. Under normal conditions, this wouldn't be much of an issue however some server administrators have black-listed e-mail messages sent by users of The_Bat!. Turning off the X-Mailer identification makes it possible to pass messages past these servers. I, personally, haven't had any messages bounced because of my use of TB! [so you'll notice my x-mailer present in my header] but a growing number of users have experienced this wrong discrimination -- enough users to make this 'feature' necessary. Also, your signature should begin with -- (dash dash space). The_Bat! recognizes this as a signature delimiter and will automatically trim the following signature upon replying. -- Peace, be well J Allen R Day http://protempore.org The Bat! 2.01.3, BayesIt! 0.4gm | Windows XP Service Pack 1 build 2600 [Thinking is] self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. -Ray Bradbury
