Once upon a time, I'm sure I had that set, but it was no set
when I checked in response to your comment.

However, my issue is kind of the opposite problem... There are
meny messages that I want to keep around (some for many YEARS)
without losing the bodies. If those bodies are only stored
externally as .MSG files in the same folder where all the other
attachments are kept, this is a problem. It makes keeping the
attachments folder clean a rather large PITA.

I actually solved my SPAM attachment issue when I discovered
that my SPAM filter could cause all of those attachments to
be saved in a special folder. However, the BODIES of all
SPAM are being saved as .MSG files in my PRIMARY attachment
folder. I think this was caused by the addition of
SPAMASSASSIN on my mail server, which packages probable SPAM
as an attachment to an analysis of the message. But for some
reason, all the .EML, GIF, PNG, JPG, etc. go in the special
SPAM attachment folder I set up with a filter, but the .MSG
files DO NOT. Argh.
