If you copy to Clipboard and then paste from there, the encoding will get lost, that is true. I also cannot copy Spanish letters via ctrl-C and then paste them into a mail I'm editing via ctrl-V, they would show as question marks (so I have to open the charset to use those letters, which is annoying at times). I understand that this is a Windows shortcoming and not TBs fault. If you reply to a mail, TB will use the same charset (if available). It's your reply template that messes it up. -- Cheers, Thomas.
