more than 3 will work differently, as the "tile" operation degenerates to the 
"split" operation only for 1, 2 or 3 items.

true for Borland's Turbo Vision and for maybe other windowing environment, but 
NOT for Microsoft Windows.

btw, can anyone check this with OS/2's Presentation Manager? i currently have 
no instances of it installed anywhere nearby.
