Yes, about 50% of the apps I use are on the D drive - they either
don't need to be installed or it's a simple process of backing them up
and exporting the registry - like with TheBat. Gets me back up to
speed quickly after a re-install. Installing apps on the D drive gets
round a lot of Vista issues as well, it means my PC still belongs to
me, not MSFT.

Yes, it over-writes the tree of the registry. It doesn't contain the
actual messages though, just pointers to the folders and preferences.
