http://www.ieice.org/~wtc2012/workshop.html March 4, 2012 / Phoenix Seagaia Resort, Miyazaki, Japan ************************************************************ --------------------------------------------------------------- SCHEDULES --------------------------------------------------------------- * Extended abstract submission: 8 January 2012 [Extended] * Acceptance notification : 16 January 2012 * Presentation slide submission : 15 February 2012 * Conference : 4 March 2012 --------------------------------------------------------------- *[Workshop on Cloud Computing in the Telecom environment, bridging tge gap]* *Workshop rationales:* The scope of this WS is to elaborate on how to bring in Cloud Computing into the Telecommunication architecture. Cloud Computing has shown great success in the IT industry as well as for operators in delivering services for Business. However, Could Computing has been neglected as a key element also in the Telecommunication architecture, which we here will address. Cloud Computing will greatly enhance the flexibility in how operators can offer new services and radically improve the efficiency in their operation. Furthermore, Operators also possess a great asset within their networks that can be utilized to increase the capability for Cloud Computing and enhance the experience of the end users. *Scope of Work Shop:* There are two dimensions of Cloud Computing that we here will address. Firstly, Cloud Computing brings in new means in doing business, switching from capital expenses to operational. How can we form a new business model that enhances the flexibility in deploying new service and in more cost efficient way? What new operational models are needed when telecom applications are provided as a service? The other dimension is how to leverage the Cloud Computing technology to support Telecom applications. The operator can here add their assets and experiences from, e.g.: networks and connectivity, security frameworks, and quality service delivery, which yet is not fully addressed in Cloud Computing. *Benefits of Cloud Computing in Telco environment *Business impacts in the Telecom industry *Cloud Computing in Telco architectureSecurity for Cloud Computing *Telco application software as a Service *Distributed Cloud Computing *Networking as a Service *Cloud Computing for efficient operation *Integration of Cloud Management into OSS/BSS *Multi-tenant Virtual Private Clouds *Hybrid Cloud and Multi-Cloud interworking *Workshop organizer: * Sonny Thorelli, Ericsson Research, Cloud Computing (Contact: [email protected]) Joe Weinman, HP, Business Solutions - Communications, Media, and Entertainment Hidetsugu Kobayashi, NTT Information Sharing Platform Laboratories * * *[Workshop on Software defined networks (SDN) and open flow]* *Scope of Work Shop: *Software defined networks (SDN) and open flow are promising approaches to increase flexibility of networks and to realize a modular software oriented approach for future communication systems.
