Dear all, (apologies for cross-posting)
our team at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology is happy to announce the next release (0.8.1) of the award-winning software package ariba, successfully demonstrated at SIGCOMM 2009, INFOCOM 2010 and KiVS 2011. ariba is an overlay-based virtual network substrate that provides seamless connectivity in spite of wireless network access, mobility, protocol heterogeneity, and middle-boxes (e.g., firewalls, or NAT gateways). It significantly fosters the development and deployment of new communication services and applications. ariba is open source under FreeBSD license. Major improvements of ariba 0.8.1 include - Rewrite of the network backend, now based on Boost ASIO - Rewrite of the bluetooth code - DHT moved into a service to make extensions more easy (also some bug fixes) - Support for IPv6 link local addresses - ariba now works on direct connections without DHCP server (and without static IP addresses) ariba can be downloaded from http://www.ariba-underlay.org/ You may also want to look at omnibus-filetransfer (http://www.omnifile.org/), a highly flexible document exchange application, as an excellent example demonstrating ariba's capabilities. ariba has been developed in the scope of the Spontaneous Virtual Networks (SpoVNet) project (http://www.spovnet.de) with funds from the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung gGmbH.
