******************************************************************************** CALL FOR PAPERS: Elsevier Pervasive and Mobile Computing Journal (PMCJ) Special Issue on Pervasive Education Due to several requests we have extendend the deadline for submissions till December 15, 2012. ******************************************************************************** http://www.journals.elsevier.com/pervasive-and-mobile-computing/call-for-papers/special-issue-on-pervasive-education/ ******************************************************************************** Topics: Over the past decade, digital networks and operations have entered institutions worldwide. Highly mobile, context-aware, and pro-active services provide significant benefit to the users - in terms of simplicity, comfort, transparency, and finally quality of our everyday activities. This special issue aims to advance understanding of research challenges and opportunities in applying the pervasive computing paradigm to the education domain. It addresses technologies, models, algorithms, tools, architectures, and applications as well as social models and prerequisites of pervasive education. We seek for multi-disciplinary contributions that reveal interesting aspects especially from a technical, pedagogical and organizational perspective, and that exploit new forms and possibilities of teaching and learning that benefit learners, teachers, tutors, and educational institutions. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to: - intelligent, context-aware, pro-active teaching and learning systems - mobile, ad-hoc learning network issues - mobility of educational services and sessions, device independency - document, knowledge, and service management for pervasive education - process, context, and data modeling for pervasive teaching and learning - cooperation, collaboration, and communities in pervasive education - adaptation and self organization in the learning process - global, multi-lingual educational networks - tangible, natural-language user interfaces and interaction technologies - dedicated challenges of security & trust - didactic models for pervasive education and their implementation - organizational aspects of pervasive education Submission process: All submissions have to be prepared according to the Guide for Authors as published in the Journal website at http://www.ees.elsevier.com/pmc/. Authors should select SI: Pervasive Education, from the “Choose Article Type” pulldown menu during the submission process. All contributions must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere. A submission based on one or more papers that appeared elsewhere has to comprise major value-added extensions over what appeared previously (at least 33% new material). Authors are requested to attach to the submitted paper their relevant, previously published articles and a summary document explaining the enhancements made in the journal version. Important Dates: Paper submission deadline: extended to December 15, 2012 First Notification: March 1, 2013 Final Notification: May 15, 2013 Guest Editors of the Special Issue: Ulrike Lucke, Universität Potsdam, Germany Ralf Steinmetz, Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany Contact: [email protected] http://apache.cs.uni-potsdam.de/de/profs/ifi/mm/CfP_PMCJ_PervEducation.pdf _______________________________________________ IEEE Communications Society Tech.
