Cheers, --/Saleem Research Fellow in Computer Science - ME4619 University of St Andrews (Ref: 4619) Vacancy Details: We have a vacancy for a Research Fellow (Post-Doctoral Research Assistant), as part of the GBP9.2M project, IU-ATC. The work will involve undertaking novel research in collaboration with academic and industrial partners in the UK and India, as well as working with PhD students at St Andrews and other partners. The post will be within the IU-ATC project, a multi-lateral, international collaboration between industry and academia, funded through the EPSRC. The post is available now, until 30 Nov 2014 (an extension has been requested to May 2015 but has yet to be confirmed by the EPSRC). It is expected that a suitably skilled and experienced applicant would be offered the post at Grade 6 Spine-Point 30 (Salary GBP 30,122). The key involvement of St Andrews in the IU-ATC project will be in two areas: "Energy Efficiency in Protocols and Systems" and "Congestion Control and Protocol Adaptation". The application domain is currently planned to be real-time and non-real-time Voice over IP (VoIP) and Video over IP (ViIP), including delivery of such media from cloud-based services. Methodology may be a mixture of analytical, simulation and empirical, with a greater focus on the latter, however. The empirical work to date has been conducted on an opensource IEEE 802.11 testbed, which has 802.11a/b/g/n capability and can work in both 2.4GHz and 5GHz ISM bands. This testbed will be used and expanded as part of this role.
