Within the framework of a research project funded by the European Commission, the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg/Germany (www.hs-augsburg.de) is offering a position as a PhD student. The focus of the work is on network measurements and troubleshooting. You will design methods to perform larger scale measurements on the Internet and protocol support for these measurements. You will design and implement system-level software to perform these measurement and tools that help troubleshooting the network based on the gathered data and to semi-automatically fix network problems. Part of the work will be to analyze the collected data and refine the measurements methodologies based on this. You will also collaborate with project partners across Europe and the members of the group at the university.
You are expected to have: - A Masters degree in Computer Science or a closely related field - Proven knowledge in the fields of data communications and system programming - The ability to analytically approach difficult problems - A strong interest in solving problems and researching interesting questions - Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team The position is to be filled ASAP and the contract will be limited till 31.
