CALL FOR PAPERS (extended deadline 20 Jan 2013) Peer-to-Peer Networking and Applications Special Issue on P2P Cloud Systems
http://www.springer.com/?SGWID=0-102-2-1315322-preview&dynamic=true Since the success of Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (a.k.a. EC2), the concept of cloud computing has been quickly adapted world wide, from major content providers (such as Google and Microsoft), solution providers to small business enterprise. In contrast to traditional Internet services, cloud computing provides not only storage capacity, but also computing powers. It allows end-users to access data from anywhere at anytime. It equips enterprises with IT solutions at low cost. Such computing services are supported by large data centers that may or may not located at the same location. Despite the massive computing power, storage capacity and great flexibility, cloud computing is facing challenges in sustainability, privacy, security, robustness, data migration, throughput, and many more. To address these, peer-to-peer (P2P) techniques have been proposed, e.g., in data centers, at the core as overlay network, and at the edge of the cloud. The aim of this special issue is to foster and exchange ideas on innovative work in P2P or overlay solutions for cloud computing. Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit complete original papers addressing issues on P2P cloud computing including but not limited to the following topics: * Disruptive or novel P2P or overlay technology for cloud computing * P2P solutions for security and privacy issues in the cloud * P2P solutions for storage and data migration in data centers * P2P solutions for green computing and energy efficiency * Overlay and P2P techniques for live streaming cloud * Hybrid P2P-CND cloud systems and services * New P2P-based cloud services and service federation * Economics and management issues in P2P cloud systems * System deployment experiments and experience * Immersive P2P multiple view video communication * Mobile P2P solutions for ad-hoc teleconferencing * Collaborative P2P cloud-assisted computing & data aggregation * P2P and overlay techniques for stored and interactive multimedia and video services -------------------- Submission Authors are encouraged to submit high-quality, original work that has neither appeared in, nor is under consideration by, other journals. Springer offers authors, editors and reviewers of Peer-to-Peer Networking and Applications a web-enabled online manuscript submission and review system. Our online system offers authors the ability to track the review process of their manuscript. Manuscripts should be submitted to: http://PPNA.edmgr.com under the article type "P2P Cloud Systems". This online system offers easy and straightforward log-in and submission procedures, and supports a wide range of submission file formats. -------------------- Important Dates * Paper submission: 20 Jan 2013 (new) * Acceptance notification: 14 Apr 2013 (new) * Final papers: 26 May 2013 (new) * Publication: 3Q/4Q 2013 -------------------- Guest Editors (in alphabetic order of last name) Dr. Jacob Chakareski (jakov.cakareski at epfl.ch) École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland Prof. Gary Chan (gchan at cse.ust.hk) The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, China Prof. Mea Wang (meawang at ucalgary.ca) University of Calgary, Canada Dr. Bin Wei (bwmbox at gmail.com) Georgia Southern University, USA Editor-in-Chief Prof. Xuemin Shen, University of Waterloo, Canada Associate Editor-in-Chief Dr. Heather Yu, Huawei Technologies, USA _______________________________________________ IEEE Communications Society Tech.
