PhD vacancy@TU Delft: QoS Control for Cognitive Radio Synopsis:
Delft University of Technology is looking for a highly motivated and results-driven PhD student for a new research project. This project will study how to embed Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA)/Cognitive Radio (CR) into existing wireless systems used by today's emergency teams (e.g. TETRA). A concept of QoS profiling will be studied where DSA/CR channel allocation will be adapted on-the-fly, considering spectrum sensing and anticipated traffic originating from emergency teams. First, a new theory of QoS profiling for DSA/CR will be developed (considering service boundaries), which later will be ported to a Software Defined Radio platform (such as OpenTETRA [tetra.osmocom.org/trac/]) for evaluation. A successful candidate will be affiliated jointly with Circuits and Systems Group (cas.et.tudelft.nl) (CAS) and the Embedded Software Group (www.es.ewi.tudelft.nl) (ES). Requirements: Applicants must have a Master's degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis on wireless communications. Good English language proficiency is a prerequisite. Strong analytical skills, C/Matlab programming abilities and a willingness to perform experimental work are desired.
