Suggested topics include (but not limited to) the following: * Access Methods and Physical Design; * Concurrency Control and Recovery * Data structures and algorithms for data management; * Transaction and workflow management, interoperability and Web services; * Distributed and parallel databases; * Grid, peer-to-peer databases and cloud computing; * Real-time, embedded, sensor, and mobile databases; * Scientific and Statistical Databases * Multimedia Databases, Digital libraries and Information Retrieval * Spatial, temporal and geographic databases; * Data in social networks and Graph databases; * Active databases; * Object-oriented databases; * Deductive Databases; * Data models and database design; * Incompleteness, inconsistency, and uncertainty in databases; * Query languages; * Query processing and optimization, approximate query answering; * Semi-structured data; * Data mining, knowledge discovery, information extraction, and machine learning; * Data warehousing; * Data integration, Heterogeneous and Federated DBMS; * Meta-data management; * Data visualization; * Semantic-Web data; * Ontology-based data management; * Privacy, security, and trust management; * Database Performance and Evaluation; Important Dates * Abstract submission March 20, 2013 * Paper submission March 27, 2013 * Notification of acceptance May 3, 2013 * Camera-ready copy due May 13, 2013 * Early registration May 13, 2013 * Conference date June 30 - July 3, 2013 Papers SEBD 2013 invites submissions of research, industry and application contributions as well as software demonstrations. Research papers presenting original work are solicited. Moreover, discussion papers containing descriptions of results already published are also welcomed. Research papers must be at most 12 pages long whereas discussion papers must be at most 8 pages long. Papers must be written in English. Selection will be based on originality, clarity, and technical quality. Research papers and discussion papers will compete on two different lists of acceptance. SEBD 2013 submissions must be in electronic form in PDF format. Papers must be formatted in LaTex using the Lecture Notes in Computer Science style available at http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html. Papers must contain on the first page, below the authors, the label "Research Paper" or "Discussion Paper". For discussion papers, the original published paper must be referred. Papers must be submitted electronically at https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=sebd2013. Accepted papers will be included in the informal proceedings of the symposium. Research papers could be conditionally accepted as short papers (8 pages). After acceptance, authors are required to submit all source LaTex files. No different format is allowed. Best Student Paper Award Students and post-docs researchers are strongly encouraged to submit papers presenting the results of research activities in the fields covered by the conference topics. Papers must be authored only by PhD student(s) or by post-doc(s) who defended their theses after 1/1/2011. The SEBD Steering Committee will select the best research paper to be awarded. Discussion papers are not considered for the best student paper award.
