Call for papers 2nd Workshop on Cellular Networks: Operations, Challenges and Future Design (CellNet) 2013 http://cellnet2013.cs.wisc.edu
To be held on June 25, 2013 in Taipei, Taiwan (co-located with ACM MobiSys 2013) Important dates: Paper submission: March 27, 2013 11.59pm EST Notification of acceptance: April 21, 2013 Camera-ready version due: April 28, 2013 Workshop date: June 25, 2013 Description With the popularity of smart phones and tablets, we are living in an increasingly mobile world. Third-party mobile applications such as are rapidly growing everyday and greatly enrich our lives. The eco-system for mobile applications is vibrant and conducive to open innovation. An important part of this ecosystem is the underlying connectivity provided by a cellular network. While innovations in mobile services and applications have thrived, innovations in the underlying cellular systems are much more limited. This is partially caused by the closed and monolithic nature of these networks, where the core design and operational challenges of these networks are not very accessible to the research community. The goal of this workshop is to bring together network operators, and academic researchers together to discuss emerging problems, challenges, and potential solutions in this domain. To facilitate this discussion and engagement, we would like to solicit technical papers, including position papers, that are no more than 6-pages long in the standard ACM two-column, 10 point format. Early work that stimulate discussions are also strongly encouraged. The following is a non-exhaustive list of topics: - Radio resource allocation and usage profiling - Cellular network architectures - Understanding and modeling cellular data traffic - Billing and pricing models - Cellular network security and privacy issues - Cellular network management - Mobility - Energy efficiency - Spectrum shortage - Protocol design - Algorithms to improve performance and efficiency - Role of emerging techniques, such as SDN Workshop Chairs: Suman Banerjee (UW-Madison) Li Erran Li (Bell Labs, Alcatel-Lucent) Program Committee: Suman Banerjee, UW-Madison James Kempf, Ericsson Research Edward Knightly, Rice U Kate Ching-Ju Lin, CITI, Academia Sinica Li Erran Li, Bell Labs, Alcatel-Lucent Haiyun Luo, China Mobile Morley Mao, U Michigan Kobus van der Merwe, U Utah Ram Ramjee, MSR India Shravan Rayanchu, Google Shubho Sen, AT&T Vikram Srinivasan, Alcatel-Lucent Matt Welsh, Google Cedric Westphal, Huawei Lin Zhong, Rice U Publicity Chairs: Kate Ching-Ju Lin, CITI, Academia Sinica Souvik Sen, HP Labs Steering Committee: Suman Banerjee, UW-Madison Li Erran Li, Alcatel-Lucent Morley Mao, Michigan Jennifer Rexford, Princeton _______________________________________________ IEEE Communications Society Tech.
