Special Issue on Designing the Green Internet *********************************************** The Internet is currently the largest communication network in the World, able to interconnect more than 2 billion people. As services are converging into the Internet, the Network is expected to grow exponentially in the near future, leading to an increased carbon footprint (currently accounted around 2% of the humanity footprint). Indeed, routers, base stations, data centers are designed for performance, not for power efficiency. The special issue aims at providing a survey on the current status of research on the Internet Technologies, including networking and data center design methodologies required to enter the era of the Green Internet. Perspective authors are invited to submit original contributions (not submitted or published elsewhere) on the following topics: Green data center design Green networking technologies Green wireless networks Green protocol optimization Energy efficient service design Analytical and simulation approaches for energy consumption optimization of ICT technologies Models for the Green Internet Testbeds and measurements for the Green Internet Guest editors Prof. Fabrizio Granelli (lead guest editor) Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science University of Trento Via Sommarive 14, I-38123 Trento (Italy) e-mail: [email protected] Dr. Dzmitry Kliazovich Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust Université du Luxembourg - Campus Kirchberg 6, rue Richard Coudenhove-Kalergi L-1359 Luxembourg Email: [email protected] Instructions for the authors LaTeX is the preferred format.
