A Workshop on Experimental Wireless Networking Research using Nomadic and
Mobile Devices: The FINS Framework

Thursday, July 11, 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Virginia Tech Research Center---Arlington, Virginia (located within walking
distance of the Ballston Metro stop)

This free one-day workshop will give researchers hands-on experience in
designing and executing mobile networking experiments with Linux laptops and
Android devices. We'll introduce and practice the concepts of good experimental
design while gaining experience with an open-source experimental networking
tool, the FINS Framework. Workshop students will gain experience with laptop
(Linux) and mobile (Android) network nodes, modifying protocol implementations,
and executing experiments. Workshop content will include protocol manipulation
from the data link layer to the application layer. The workshop is designed for
researchers in wireless networking. Prior knowledge of network architectures
and protocols and prior programming experience are required.

Registration is limited to 20 persons. Lunch and coffee breaks provided.
Optional dinner and networking after the formal program ends. Please contact
Prof. Allen B. MacKenzie, [email protected], by May 15 to register or for more
information.

This workshop is supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No.
0916300.
