The IEEE EMBS Summer School on Emerging Technologies and Applications in Telemedicine
Summer School is organized by: National Centre of Telemedicine Services Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava Institute of Measurement Science, Slovak Academy of Sciences http://www.mhealth.sk Date: 26.-31.8.2013 Location: Smolenice Castle, Slovak Republic Registration deadline: June 20, 2013 The summer school will provide an excellent opportunity for learning, teaching and brain-storming for master and PhD. students, post docs, faculty, engineers from industry and clinicians on a "closed-loop" of telemedicine covering data acquisition, data interpretation and clinical decision support. It will be an exciting and stimulating week of networking and discussions with prominent experts in the field related to biomedical signal processing, biomedical data treatment, neuroengineering, healthcare informatics, biomedical telemetry, e-p-m Health and telemedicine technologies. The focus will be on tutorial presentations where distinguished faculty will provide detailed insight into biomedical signal processing, telemedicine technology and devices, telemedicine systems and communications, data interoperability, computer aided decision making and applications of telemedicine. Round table with healthcare and ICT industry representatives will support the interaction between education, research, clinical practice and industry. We believe that such discussion can help our attendees to gain new insights and perspectives on telemedicine resulting in better transfer of research results into market products and services. Summer school activities include: - tutorials: prof. Metin Akay, University of Houston prof. Robert Allen, Dr. David Simpson, University of Southampton prof. Anna Bianchi, prof. Sergio Cerutti, Politecnico di Milano Dr. Wei Chen, TU Eindhoven prof. Catherine Garbay, CNRS, Grenoble Dr. Madya Lee Yoot Khuan, University Teknologi MARA prof. Konstantina S. Nikita, NTUA Dr. Julien Penders, Holst Centre Dr. Amnon Shabo, IBM Research Lab, Haifa prof. Y.T. Zhang, Chinese University of Hong Kong - meet the editors forum (IEEE TITB-JBHI, Elsevier BSPC, Wiley&IEEE Biomedical Engineering Book Series) - PhD. poster session - round tables with ICT and healthcare industry representatives - plenty of opportunities for mentoring activities. Topics: 1. Wearable, implantable sensor devices and systems 2. Communication links for biomedical telemetry 3.
