Call for Papers -IET Networks
Special Issue on Teletraffic Engineering in Communications Systems Aim and Scope: Traffic theory and engineering have been an inseparable part of the development of telecommunications and ICT infrastructure from the very beginning of their existence. Teletraffic problems have changed substantially over the recent years as a result of the changes in the telecommunications area towards integrated digital networks, data services, Internet and mobile communications, as well as networks convergence. Each and every newly introduced type of a network technology is followed by a substantial increase in both the number and the complexity of problems that need to be resolved by theoreticians and traffic engineers. No matter what these developing changes may bring, the essential task for traffic theory remains the same - to determine and evaluate the relationship between the quality of service parameters, the parameters that determine the intensity of calls and the demanded resources, and the parameters that describe available network resources. These relationships provide a basis for developing engineering algorithms and tools used for designing, analysis and optimization of systems and networks. The objective of this special issue is to bring together the state-of-the-art research contributions that address challenges in teletraffic theory and engineering. Topics of Interest: The topics of primary interest include, but are not limited to: - performance evaluation of wired and wireless networks - optical network performance modelling and assessment - QoS and QoE issues - integration of a broad spectrum of services - methods and tools for networks and services modelling - call admission and congestion control - analytical and simulation teletraffic models - performance evaluation of switching systems - traffic grooming - network/traffic optimization - QoS routing - networks and services planning and dimensioning - traffic forecasting and management Submission rules Papers submitted should be original and unpublished.
