A number of people have written about problems with Jacl under JDK 1.2
related to the fact that characters typed into the shell do not show
up until return is pressed. I sent a bug report to Sun about this
problem and I just got word that they have declared this bug a
"feature" of JDK1.2. Since Sun is not going to fix this bug I have
implemented a workaround that should work with both JDK 1.1 and
JDK 1.2. I have tested the workaround under NT and it seem to be
working well so I am going to add it to the upcoming 1.2.2 release.
