No.

If it wants to be blessed by everyone, pcap_lookupnet() must be deleted
from libpcap api, it lost its sense together with escaping libcap from
a lab where only sunos-4 and earlier was used. No it is a non-sense.

And probably replaced with a function returning list of prefixes.

Lie. It does not. But it really allows to do weird things with
address configuration which do not map into any SIOC*s.

People do some shit using tools with status sort of "dd of=/dev/kmem"
(sadly, written by me) ignoring exposed alerts in manual and after
this expect that everything will work.
