This does not pertain to this case. It's a very vanilla 16Mbit token ring hub (older 3Com). I have a Network Associates Sniffer that is on the same ring with the same type of Madge card and it is working well. The problem is that I am looking for specific traffic that needs to trigger a program to run when it is seen so I wanted to use Linux/tcpdump. That way I have things like nslookup available to me.
