It shouldn't need any configuration (it has no configuration files).
You will have to run it as root if you want to capture network traffic.

The only documentation is the man page; perhaps the sunfreeware package
included it. Try doing "man tcpdump" (although you may have to change
MANPATH to search subdirectories of "/usr/local/man").
