This film chronicles American military children during primarily the Cold War, using interviews, testimonials, archived footage, and clips from popular films such as The Great Santini. The film highlights elements of an occupation lifestyle with demands unique to the military organization and culture such as the risk of death and injury, frequent family separations, geographic mobility, foreign residence, normative constraints, shift-work and long working hours, a masculine-dominated culture, parent-child conflicts, multiculturalism, and early retirement to civilian life--all of which have implications for the children coming of age in this social structural context. 90 minutes, 2005.
