Hi all,
I've been asked to facilitate a discussion at our upcoming faculty retreat on teaching quantitative and qualitative research methods across all the social science disciplines. Currently, each department teaches its own research methods, and our dean would like to explore the possibilities of offering common courses, where appropriate. For example, I've noticed that all of our quantitative methods courses cover pretty much the same material, taking students from descriptive statistics to regression. Qualitative courses also share much in common.
I'm wondering if anyone out there has any experience or information they would like to share about cross-discipline research methods courses. Or, whether anyone out there has any helpful opinions or suggestions?
I would very much value your input! All the best, Linda Derksen, Ph.D. Chair Department of Sociology Malaspina University-College
