Hi Folks,

What's your opinion on the best Fam Soc reader?  I've been looking at Cherlin, but am not sure it meets my needs.
I spend about half the class talking about historical variations in in family as a response to societal change (e.g., industrialization) as well as different family forms (e.g., by class, race, sexual orientation)  The other half of the course ooks at family problems (e.g., divorce, abuse, elder/child care issues, poverty).  Ideally, some cross cultural readings are good.  I'd like something that's a little "meaty" as opposed to "fluffy."  (Judy Aulette's book looks good, but I don't see a reader for it.)

Recommendations?  Offline is ok.

Thanks.
Andi
