Hi. Please forward this to anyone you know working or teaching in the area of the Sociology/Philosophy of Science/Technology OR teaching, writing, or interested in the broader theme of "Science Studies." We are looking for two more presenters to join three of us at the ASA next August in Montreal on a panel entitled "Sociology of Science/Science Studies in the General Education Curriculum." Val Dusek (philosopher of science) and I have a short piece on this topic in the current edition of Peer Review, and a longer one in "revision and resubmit" mode for the J. of General Education.
Two of us will be presenting on this specific issue, but we would like to include others who want to apply their work in the Sociology of Science and/or Technology to the most general or practical level of knowledge and application we would expect to see in an "educated person", e.g., what does the educated person need to know about science, especially social, cultural, epistemological, and theoretical knowledge of science? Please do email back if you have any ideas for additions to our panel.
