Illinois College. The Department of Sociology invites applications for an Assistant Professor tenure-track position in sociology beginning August 2006. We are currently seeking candidates with teaching and research interests in Organizational Theory, Formal/complex Organizations, and Public Policy.  Additional areas of expertise desired include some combination of Urban Sociology, Social Work Practice/Social Welfare, Rural Sociology, Intervention Strategies and Social Policy.  These courses will combine to work toward the development of an additional concentration in Social Policy within the Sociology Department.  The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Introductory Sociology, courses in her/his area of specialization, and assist with providing support to the Department's core curriculum and the general education program.  In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for strengthening the Department's connection to Illinois College’s Management and Organizational Leadership Program, with the potential for overseeing this Program in the future. A PhD in Sociology (with an emphasis in organizations and policy), and evidence of teaching excellence are required.
