Position 1 is a two-thirds appointment in Sociology and a one-third appointment in Womens Studies. Applicants should have a primary specialization in the sociology of gender and be able to teach an intermediate gender and society course and an upper level sociology of gender course.
Position 2 is a two-thirds appointment in Sociology and a one-third appointment in Environmental Studies. Applicants should have a primary specialization in the sociology of the environment and be able to teach an intermediate interdisciplinary environment and society course and an upper level social ecology course.
Areas of secondary specialization for both positions are open, but we would be particularly interested in demography, qualitative methods, medical sociology, aging, deviance, and law. All faculty are expected to be active scholars and to advise majors and minors. A strong commitment to undergraduate education is essential, and an ability to involve students in research is particularly desirable. A PhD in Sociology by September 2006 is essential.
