I remind my students all the time...:-) and then mention my birthday. I remind students that this is in general - so although you might have a PHD or Master's in sociology you are the low end of the advanced degree level, which is much higher then the low end of the bachelor's or non-degree level. On the bright side, being a professor comes with high level of prestige (I think # 2 on some lists recently)
