You are lucky that you are allowed to take field trips...... I have found them banned because of liability issues.
In the past when they were legal I visited the court   a day long trip  each study group had a different assignment
around a similar theme.  In Delaware it is possible to visit the JP, superior and common pleas courts easily......
security....no cell phones...etc is always an issue.   Being in court is part of the every day experience of more
people than we would think.......  James are you back here again?   What is it this time?  It is for some part of their neighborhood

For an Urban class there were projects using Sim city.... focused on ...edge cities and Anacostia.... with regard to infrastructure
then we took a trip to flesh out the work done on Sim City and see first hand the effects of a freeway exit from hell...

The students visited a new super market  this time the white students found out what it was like to be followed around....
the target of suspicion.  The tour ended up in George Town also part of a freeway exit..... quite a different everyday experience.

While some people devalue field trips .... as fun..... I have found then to be very valuable learning experiences.... One class
used them to make a video.     They put the fun in fundamental.

Anyone have any imput?

I take my classes to a local shopping mall to search for evidence as to whether or not we are a culture that supports "family values" or violent behavior.
