Have been an avid gardener off and on since I was a teen. Past ~15 years my wife and her parents have managed a 1/2 acre+ garden. They have two tractors so it could be much bigger except it has to be fenced to keep the deer out. Mostly herloom varieties, so only one of each to prevent cross pollination.
I personally started growing gourds a few years ago with the intention of attracting a colony of purple martins. 2012 with the late frost and drought got a 1/2 dozen useable gourds. Not enough to bother putting up a pole...
