Many of you have contacted me with concerns about installation. In many cases, teachers are simply unable to install the software on their computers. I will be asking trainers to contact Tech Coordinators directly for assistance in installing software at the school. Each classroom will have access to an installation CD. I will also see about providing each Tech Coordinator with a CD as well. The installers will be available on the Web but the State has not finished the software or released the URL at this time.
As mentioned in the previous message, the installer is a simple drag and drop. It is a run-time version of FileMaker Pro which means it will run on any computer regardless of whether FileMaker is actually installed on the machine. There are no additional configurations necessary. FoxPro required a data folder on the server. FileMaker only requires that the teacher have available space on the folder to export a small data file from the program. It would be a good idea to place this on a server where it is backed up in case it needs to be imported into the program if there is corruption to the original.
