Anyone that uses Exchange 2000 and tried to implement any kind of spam filtering knows what a pain it can be. I have found an add-on filter for SMTP services that will filter all open relay emails as well as known spammer accounts based off of various RBLs such as Osirusoft, SPEWS, or ORDB. Its called Open Relay Filter and as far as my testing has gone, it has cut about 80% of all spam, filtering over 4000 messages over a week period.
