That was the point - they are supposed to retain 75% of the charge for up to
a year, and somewhere I read that they are supposed to last longer as well.

Haven't heard of this, but if I had the option I would specifically look for
the regular "uncharged" (or half-charged, whatever it really is) rather than
some pre-charged battery that's been sitting in a factory, warehouse(s),
transit vehicle(s), stockroom, and then the shelf from which I buy it. :P
