The "cost" is $35. But give that device to a corporation and let them put their expensive packaging in place and let the marketing department go wild and don't forget to take care of the investors and the "price" will be about $199.

I've read where people India are working on an Android tablet with a price tag of $35-$50. The one laptop per child people are looking very hard at this and believe that they can meet their goal of a $100 laptop.

I've also seen the $199 price tag on the Verizon versions - I assume that means
you have to subscribe to a data plan, though. What would be really cool is if
the new tablets could tether wirelessly through your android phone and share
the data plan you already have!

I have read in more than one place that a Verizon table will be available on Black Friday.

Yes, there are some shipping now but a lot more expected to hit the market in time for Black Friday.

Here is one that is shipping now...

The ones to watch are the new ones from ASUS and Motorola that are rumored to be partnering with Verizon to compete directly with the AT&T enabled iPAD
